So, what's all this talk about open source and Linux these days? Isn't Linux just for those Computer Science, programming card-carrying geeks (I'm one of those by the way...minus the card-carrying)? Well, in these tough economic times, people are looking for various ways to save a buck or two.
Enter linux...Ubuntu Linux specifically. I started using Ubuntu about 2 years ago and I have had nothing but success using it. I can do everything the typical PC or Mac user does on a daily basis and it costs me absolutely nothing, in terms of buying software.
There is an immense catalog of software available freely for Linux systems, much of which is available for install with a one-click interface. So how does one goes about getting this fancy Linux operating system installed. Well, just check out this video on youtube that walks you step by step through the install process, which has been simplified more and more with each release.
If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a line and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Disclaimer: This tutorial covers installing Ubuntu Linux on a new hard drive. Please make sure you have backed up all needed data prior to proceeding.
